Kyle MCphee

Hazardous Waste Specialist

I was born in Iowa and grew up in Lakeville, MN. I graduated from the University of Minnesota-Duluth with a degree in biological sciences and a minor in Chemistry. I began my professional career as a chemist in the medical device testing field. I then transitioned into the pharmaceutical world as a senior aseptic formulation technician, working in a clean room setting. Soon thereafter, I brought my extensive chemical knowledge into the world of hazardous waste. As a Hazardous Waste Specialist, I have a strong background in performing hazardous waste inspections, waste evaluation and profiling, lab packing, generator compliance, and more! I thoroughly enjoy working closely with our customers to help provide the best possible service with all their waste needs. I am also DOT HAZMAT, OSHA HAZWOPER and RCRA certified.
In my spare time, I enjoy going for walks with my dog and spending time with my wife and daughter. I am also a big fan of watching and playing a variety of sports.

Mark Peterson II

Environmental Specialist

I was born and raised in the Twin Cities. Joined the Marine Corps after High School and served for 12 years, from 2005 to 2017, including a deployment to Afghanistan. During my time I was an airport firefighter, specializing in aircraft & structural fires, and hazmat spill response. Following my time in the military I headed to the civilian market working with my passion in the environmental field.
I have experience in automotive and medical device manufacturing, along with federal defense contracts. I’ve held positions like Environmental Field Tech, EH&S Manager, and Project Manager. Spending time in the positions that I have has allowed me to strengthen my background. I have certifications from IFSAC, DOT, OSHA, FEMA, & ISO.
I am currently living in St. Paul, with my wife, kid, and our cat Petey. We enjoy spending time outside and attending Vikings games. I am also currently attending school to complete my Environmental Science A.S.

Chris Emerson

OSHA Safety Compliance Consultant and Trainer

I was born and raised in Southeast MN area and I graduated from the University of Minnesota-Duluth with a degree in Biology and a Minor in Chemistry. I met my wife in Duluth, even though we grew up 15 miles apart but had never met! We have 2 high school-aged children who are very active in multiple sports. I met Mike back in 2013 at the annual MN Safety Council Conference. We said we should connect again sometime, and in 2014 I started working part time for IWS. My expertise is in Safety and I enjoy helping ICS by developing and implementing solutions to their EHS needs.

Terri Thompson

Director of Operations

I started at Industrial Waste services in 2011 as the Office Manager. Prior to that, my professional background was primarily in the financial services industry with credit unions. In 2022, when Mike sold the company, I was promoted to Director of Operations. My focus here at ICS is to keep things moving forward and make sure we are giving our customers excellent service with integrity.
When work is over, I love to be outdoors; walking, hiking, camping, exploring and enjoying all the magnificent variety of God’s creation. Traveling is something that brings me much joy as well. When indoors, I love to read and try all sorts of crafts. I very much enjoy photography and making things with wood. My church is a vital part of my life and love being involved there in various ways. Time with family and friends is the best of all! Oh, and dark chocolate 🙂

Rhonda Robinette

Customer Service Manager

I was born and raised on the East Side of Saint Paul. I began my career in the corporate world serving Credit Unions for 20+ years on the payments side of the business and the last 12 years auditing Credit Unions focusing on regulatory and compliance in the ACH, Bank Secrecy and SAFE Act areas. Customer Service has always been the number one priority in all my jobs.

I joined the ICS team in September 2020, working side by side with accounting and project management teams. Working at ICS with a team of highly skilled individuals that have the same customer service focus that I have is a blessing.

Outside of work I enjoy the best of both worlds, solitude and chaos! I like a little alone time, but mostly you will find me surrounded by friends and family. I am blessed with my husband Donny, who is retired from UPS, our adult children, and our favorite littles (grandchildren) who call us Heavy D and Mimi.
